Bio Vitae

Carol Little

Carol Little was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. With a scholarship, she attended the Banff Centre and then graduated from the Alberta College of Art with Honours in Weaving and Fabrics in 1972. Post graduate studies at the Institudo d’Allende, Mexico was her reward. Carol began her professional career as a contract weaver under Douglas Motter for 6 years. After that time, she continued her weaving through commissioned work at home, allowing her to raise a family. Wanting to experiment with more realism, Carol began to paint on silk. This medium allowed her to express her love of fabrics in a more ‘painterly fashion’.

From weaving to batik to painting on silk to mixed media, Carol has enjoyed the cycle of developing a tactile surface rich with texture and colour. Carol is represented in several Calgary and area galleries and is a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, International Society of Experimental Artists and local Riverview Art Group plus Art Horizons.
